Hi there, my name is Anike!

I have spent the bulk of my career in the corporate world as a Marketing Executive but secretly, I’ve wanted to write for years!

Initially, I thought I would become screenwriter and went off to study screenwriting – perhaps I could be the first black woman to win a screenwriting oscar? But alas, life happened and I pushed my dreams to the background.

Then something unexpected happened – a strange, unsettling and horrific story fell into my lap.

After my father died, I uncovered a dark secret, a secret that destroyed him. Henceforth, I embarked on my journey – a journey to figure out how to tell my father’s story. Is it a biography? should I fictionalize his story? maybe its a series? After researching life stories, I landed on memoir.

This is my journey – my musings, my learnings, my insights, my process as I’ve navigated learning about this new genre to me, memoir, and trying my damndest to write one.
